'Passing Through' Song by Cindy L Spear and Colin Mold!

I am excited to share this new song collaboration with UK Composer/Singer/Multi-instrumentalist Colin Mold. This atmospheric piece Passing Through was inspired by the famous 1847 classic Romantic novel Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. I wrote the lyrics while working on book 2 of my historical fiction trilogy (currently writing book 3). My two main characters, Emily and Harvey, (in the modern time line) visit the Yorkshire Moors in Northern England to explore the setting of the novel. Emily is deeply inspired by all she sees and feels at the Wuthering Heights location (and that of the author’s home). I have put her thoughts into a lyric to accompany the story. Colin has set the words to moving music. And the image above, done by ImaArtist, suits the tone well. Sit back, put on your headphones, close your eyes and listen!

If you’d also like to hear (and watch a video) of the song Empty Sky for book 1 of the series, follow this link.

Also, a song about the author Emily Bronte that include my lyrics. Follow this link.

PASSING THROUGH

(A Traveller’s encounter at Wuthering Heights)

I’m passing through this haunted land

Where weathered hills cross stormy paths

Lit by the chills of heather skies--

These clouded moors welcome the night

The colours of a passion wild

Commands attention as I fly

On memory to one dark place

The heart of Catherine and her waif

O wasted heart, where can you lie

You’re far beyond the dim blue sky

Across horizons, death and fear

This soil is moist from bitter tears

Your house is old; its stones are worn

It echoes all the oaths you’ve sworn

Words of regret, thoughts of remorse

That set you on a driving course

I feel the coldness of your breath

The wind across my back and neck

And with one sudden heaving blow

I see the injury of your souls

Come walk with me, my dying friends

For heaven calls you to begin

To find the freedom you desire

Passing through each other’s fire

The tiny bird upon the wall

The thorn trees twisted in the fall

A childhood love torn by its greed

Appearances-- the greater need
